Neighbourhood Profiles
As part of our work to create the United in Poverty Action Report, we used data from the 2021 census to build profiles for different neighbourhoods across the Halifax Central Metropolitan Area (CMA). While the data has strengths and limitations, it can be used to help identify positive attributes and challenges in each neighbourhood. It can also help identify trends, significant changes or anomalies. We hope community organizations can use it to help further their advocacy and policy change efforts and make informed decisions.
It is important to note that data is a tool, and should be used to complement storytelling and other kinds of evidence. Data alone likely does not tell the whole story about a neighbourhood.
Neighbourhood profiles are sorted within geographic areas. Click on your geographic area and use the table of contents to choose your neighbourhood.
