Wanderers and United Way Halifax Team Up for 2022 Season

Bringing more members of our community together in 2022 through our new partnership with local soccer team, HFX Wanderers!

“Having fun and doing good are two things that go very well together,” explains Dave Finlayson, HFX Wanderers Director of Business Development. “That’s been the drive behind our work with United Way over the past two years, and they’ve taught us a lot about the needs that exist in our community right now, but more importantly what we can do to help. This season we’re excited to bring our partnership with United Way Halifax to life in a new and bigger way.”

United Way Halifax is a for-impact organization with an almost 100-year history here in Halifax. Together with donors, partners and volunteers, we bridge gaps and build capacity for people who are experiencing poverty and marginalization in HRM. Our vision for Halifax is to be united by compassion, rich in opportunity and free of poverty.

United Way will take over one of the designated patio sections at the Wanderers grounds for the 2022 season. It will be a unique opportunity for us to gather with our community partners, donors and volunteers in a local, community-oriented venue. We’ll use this space as one way to show appreciation to people who are supporting the work of United Way and to provide opportunities to people in our community who might not otherwise get to experience the excitement of a live, pro soccer game.

“Relationships are critically important to the funds we raise and the difference we make in our community,” says United Way Halifax president & CEO Sara Napier. “Like everyone else, we’re eager to spend more time building and nurturing relationships beyond our computer screens and connect in person.”

Shared experiences help build strong connections. We look forward to sharing the joy of sport and community spirit with people and organizations who share our passion for community.
