Songs of the City T-Shirt Sale

Songs of the City was an unforgettable night of story and song that we hosted on April 12th at Alderney Landing Theatre! Our inspiring storytellers Sam, Cat, Joanne and Dylan had a chance to tell their own unique stories of resilience and personal change, and were matched up with local songwriters who helped shine a light on their experiences with their music.

We have limited edition, locally designed and printed band t-shirts from the event available on our t-shirt sales page and we need your help finding them a home! Each shirt costs $50 and proceeds go to United Way Halifax’s Community Fund, a multi-year funding commitment providing support to 35 critical programs in the HRM that support people who are experiencing poverty, homelessness and marginalization.

The t-shirts were sourced locally from New Scotland Clothing, and the artwork was prepared by local Artist Anisa Francoeur, who was voted The Coast’s Best Visual Artist of 2022. Here’s what Anisa had to say about bringing the event to life through illustration:

I was inspired by how heartfelt, honest and soulful each storyteller was, and I wanted to replicate that within my design. This project sought to encapsulate the liberating nature of music – emphasizing themes of freedom, growth, togetherness, and empowerment. Drawing inspiration from a melodious soaring songbird, bold flowers symbolizing progress and interlaced hands representing unity, the design aims to convey the transformative power of music in fostering positive change within communities.
