Reporting to the Director, Social Impact Strategy, the Social Sector & Investment Manager is responsible for leading and managing United Way Halifax’s efforts to build capacity across the social impact sector through facilitation, strategic collaboration, investments, relationship building, and measurement. They lead and manage the investment support team and work collaboratively with the Social Impact Strategy team and organization to advance our strategic priorities.

The key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Drive sector capacity building by facilitating and implementing the organization’s neighbourhood hubs strategy and by conducting regular outreach, consultation, and check-ins with sector leaders.
  • Manage and innovate investment work by implementing the organization’s funding framework, seeking opportunities for alignment and collaboration with partners, and bringing an equity lens to process and relationships.
  • Build strong relationships with community organizations and leaders, government contacts, and equity-deserving groups to leverage resources within and across communities.
  • Support measurement and reporting by supporting data collection, analysis, and report creation for external partners.

They are interested in social justice and have demonstrated experience working in community on issues of poverty.

Additional Qualifications:

  • 5-7 years of progressive experience related to community development, the social sector, and poverty solutions work.
  • People management experience, including delegation, support of direct reports, and performance management.
  • Strong project planning and organizational skills.
  • Proven experience practicing collaborative leadership, including a strong track record of building productive working relationships with a variety of external parties, partners, and internal departments/clients.
  • Strong Office 365 skills, including comfort with SharePoint and advanced knowledge of Excel and database programs.

United Way Halifax is committed to a comprehensive compensation package including salary, pension contribution, health and dental benefits, generous vacation time, professional development and training, flexible work hours and location, and parking/transit pass.
