Reporting to the Director, Affordable Housing – Maritimes, the Affordable Housing Project Developer is responsible for the implementation and support of United Way’s affordable housing initiatives in rural and urban settings. They will work collaboratively with various internal and external (public sector, private sector, and social sector) partners to address housing needs across our region. They serve as the project manager for different initiatives and are involved in all elements of the project work including funding applications, design and implementation planning, community engagement, evaluation, and more.
The key responsibilities of the role include:
- With a relationship-focused lens, identify new opportunities and manage housing projects with various partners from start to finish.
- Oversee and/or collaborate with partners to manage and direct construction projects from start to finish, supporting in any RFP processes, budget development, and coordinating with engineers, architects, contractors, builders, and other suppliers.
- Prepare and present reports and updates for internal and external stakeholders to effectively communicate project details, work progress, risks, and opportunities.
- Ensure strong evaluation and measurement of housing work to understand outcomes and impact.
- Align projects and opportunities with community need and develop a keen understanding of local needs, differences, and the impact of projects/work on individuals.
Our ideal candidate has significant project management experience and lends a high degree of initiative to their work and the organization. They are passionate about finding and working on innovative housing solutions and are open and comfortable to adapting to an emerging agenda, changing deadlines, and shifting priorities. They are interested in issues of housing, poverty, and social justice, and believe in the values and mission of United Way.
Additional Qualifications:
- 5+ years of combined project management, affordable housing development experience, and community development experience.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) designation considered an asset.
- Financial acumen and experience managing and developing budgets.
- Strong familiarity with federal, provincial, and municipal funding programs related to housing and development.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.
- Experience working in multi-stakeholder environments and managing competing priorities and timelines.
United Way Maritimes is committed to a comprehensive compensation package including salary, pension contribution, health and dental benefits, generous vacation time, professional development and training, flexible work hours and location, and parking/transit pass.
