Each year, colleagues across HRM discover the team-building, passion-boosting, difference-making power of the United Way Day of Caring program.
A signature offering of United Way Halifax, Day of Caring is a volunteerism program that matches teams of volunteers with hands-on helping projects in their community.
Offered to all corporate donors of United Way Halifax, it is an opportunity for the business community to take compassionate action and contribute to building a healthy and thriving Halifax for all.
“United Way’s Day of Caring is a way to give back, it gets people outside the office, it’s a chance for our staff to work together, and you can see the results right here in our city. It’s a great event, and a great day.” – Marianne Hagen, Alumni Relations Officer, Dalhousie University
The scope and complexity of Day of Caring projects vary and can range from:
- Painting, interior and exterior
- Landscaping and yard clean up
- Simple renovations or home maintenance
- Providing training workshops
- Sorting and organizing donated clothing, food and other supplies
- Preparing and serving meals
- Special event assistance
