Public Statement on Housing and Homelessness
We believe everyone has a right to belong, have a home, and live a good life. Housing is a human right, and United Way Halifax does not support any action that may cause harm to people in our community who are already extremely vulnerable and marginalized. Although our organization does not provide housing or run shelters, we fund, support and collaborate with those who do. We will continue to fundraise, advocate, and work in partnership with community, government and the private sector to improve short- and long-term affordable housing solutions. We also encourage everyone to keep compassion at the forefront as we work through tough issues and find solutions together.
