Agency Funding - One Way to Support Community
Funding support to community agencies is one of United Way's commitment to changing social conditions. Funding is available to organizations with programs that fit with strategies that align with new strategies relating to poverty and health.
The four strategies provide opportunities for people living in poverty, strengthen neighbourhoods, increase healthy living and physical activity and build a sense of belonging and trust so people can work together to make change in their community.
United Way's Board of Directors approved funding for 45 agencies under the new strategies. In addition, 18 agencies are continuing to receive funding under previous contracts. Each agency program has been reviewed by a panel of community volunteers and is a strong fit with United Way's funding principles.
In April of 2014, all funding will align with the four strategies.
