United Way Halifax has identified outcomes relating to four strategies to achieve community impact. The issue we will focus on are Poverty and Health.
The strategies are:
Opportunities Strategy so people have the skills and opportunities they need to achieve financial security;
Neighbourhood Strategy to ensure neighbourhoods have strong resident engagement and local leadership to achieve positive change;
Social Capital Strategy so people have the relationships they need to build a sense of belonging and to improve their well-being;
Healthy Living Strategy so people have improved nutrition and active lifestyles to achieve physical well-being.
When a donor asks if their donation is making a difference, United Way will be able to point to its own results as well as agency results. Every agency measures their results to be sure they are achieving their objectives. This process makes it possible for agencies to modify their programs to ensure they are achieving results that make a difference for participants.
