Co-Chairs Banking On SuccessMay 16, 2012 For Immediate Release United Way Halifax Campaign Co-Chairs Kim Mason and John Rogers Banking on Success
(Halifax NS) United Way Halifax 2012 Campaign Co-Chairs call their first meeting to order Wednesday May 16, 2012. Kim Mason, RBC Regional President, Atlantic Provinces and John Rogers, Q.C. Chief Executive Officer of Stewart McKelvey, have recruited an outstanding team of volunteer community leaders to chair divisions that include every workplace in our community. “United Way is fortunate to have successfully engaged two top notch, respected community leaders in the 2012 annual workplace campaign,” says United Way Board Chair, Kevin Stoddart. “Kim and John have proven themselves to be capable and effective leaders and they will be a powerful team.” Kim Mason received an Honours BA from the University of Western Ontario and completed an MBA at the Rotman School of Management. She was quick to engage in community when she moved to Atlantic Canada. She is currently a member of the board of directors for the Greater Halifax Partnership, QEll Foundation and the Dalhousie Medical Advisory Board. In her role with RBC, Kim develops strategy and manages the performance and delivery of products and services to more than 900,000 personal and business clients. John Rogers graduated from Acadia and took Graduate Studies at Queen’s University before graduating from Dalhousie University with his law degree. He is immediate past chair of the IWK Health Centre board of directors, Governor of Acadia University, and served as Chair of the Halifax Chamber of Commerce. John guides the strategic growth of Stewart McKelvey, Atlantic Canada’s largest and leading regional law firm. The Campaign Co-Chair role at United Way brings the best mix of leadership skills to a table of incredible talent and ability. Their focus is to set a campaign goal based on community need and achieve that goal with the support of a dedicated staff team and more than 5000 volunteers in workplaces across Halifax.
United Way Halifax has been supporting this community since 1925. With a focus on key issues of poverty and health, volunteers and staff have identified four strategies based on community research to guide our work and engage partnerships and relationships with individuals, donors and organizations. Strong communities are shaped by the people who work, live, conduct business and contribute to causes that matter to them. Paul O’Regan is being remembered as a true contributor to business, the performing arts, local and international charities and to health organizations. He was a leader in the automotive industry, a dedicated mentor willing to share his knowledge to help others and a man whose family meant the world to him.
