United Way of Halifax Region

United Way of Halifax Region hosted the annual Celebration Breakfast on February 20 to announce the 2008 campaign total of $5,811,279. Co-Chairs Steve Murphy and Jamie Baillie spoke to the generous contribution made by our community at a time when many people are facing financial uncertainty in their lives. The Honourable Premier, Rodney MacDonald, President & CEO of United Way of Halifax Region, Catherine J. Woodman and Colour’s Chris Keevill, Chair – United Way Board of Directors, also addressed the audience and spoke to the tremendous contributions made by all who participated.

The celebration was attended by more than 560 workplace donors, volunteers, business and community leaders as well as funded agencies. The crowd was also treated to the talented Andrew Machum, who sang the United Way 2008 Campaign song, “Believe” by Canadian Artist Suzie McNeil. Funds for the 2008 campaign were raised primarily from employee contributions through payroll deduction in over 1000 workplaces in HRM. Donations will fund 55 agencies across HRM.
