The Tomorrow Fund
Make a Difference in the Lives that Follow
"All of us, if we are reasonably comfortable, healthy and safe, owe immense debts to the past. There is no way, of course, to repay the past. We can only pay those debts by making gifts to the future."
-Jane Jacobs, Author
Planning for the future is a critical aspect of United Way's financial stability. The Tomorrow Fund is an endowment fund that was created to give donors the opportunity to provide a lasting legacy to our community through a donation or charitable bequest to United Way.

United Way of Halifax Region’s endowment fund was established in 1984 to provide an opportunity for our donors to support our community through legacy gifts during and/or beyond their lifetime. In 2008 the fund was renamed The Tomorrow Fund. Governed by a Board of Trustees, The Tomorrow Fund is administered by a recognized financial advisor who in turn is guided by investment policies that have been put in place to ensure funds will be sustained for future community requirements.
The objective of The Tomorrow Fund is to provide a long-term stable source of income for the community through significant annual contributions to our Community Fund. The Board of Trustees has adopted a policy of a 5% annual disbursement from the Fund. In order to ensure long term support to the community through The Tomorrow Fund, a goal of $5,000,000 has been established. The imperative for this ambitious goal is our long term commitment to our community. The Tomorrow Fund currently has approximately $2.25 Million.
