Clifford Scott loved to sit and look out at the sea, As a former inshore fisherman, he spent his whole life on the water and in his nineties was still enjoying the view. When his window cracked, he covered it over with cardboard to prevent the rain and snow from coming in but he still continued to look out from the small patch of glass remaining.
During United Way’s Day of Caring in October 2007, Clifford had a new window installed thanks to DND and a crew from Canadian Forces Base Stadacona in Halifax. Clifford’s window was a project identified by VON. Clifford was on the list of seniors visited by the VON’s Volunteer Visiting Program. This is funded by United Way and in 2007, 74 volunteers were matched with 124 seniors.
