Internship Opportunity
United Way of Halifax Region is providing an internship to an individual considering long term employment in the voluntary sector. This is part of our efforts to increase capacity within the volunteer sector.
The incumbent will report to the Senior Director of Community Resources and work as a member of the Community Resources Team. This team is responsible for achieving United Way’s outcomes by developing relationships with and supporting community based groups.
The intern will assist in the development of United Way’s youth engagement strategy. As part of this strategy he/she will oversee the youth grants program.
The internship will be for a ten month period ending in December 2010. Hours of work are negotiable within a range of 25 – 35 hours per week; the salary will be pro-rated based on an annual rate of $30,000.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with a youth oriented volunteer organization as volunteer or staff. Good writing skills and experience with group facilitation would also be an asset.
